Intermediate 2 Class Page

Class is held Mondays at the Upper Ritmos Dance Location. Though we will revisit the very basics of Casino dancing, this class will move at a pace worthy of its Intermediate 2 distinction. While we will finish each class with some Rueda, this class will be teaching Casino Partner dancing.

Please take advantage of the 6:30-7PM warmup and review time, especially if you missed the class before!

Week 2 (w/ Music)

This week built upon the previous weeks focus on the Enchufla and Exhible footwork and execution. Continuing into our next fundamental, we reviewed the Vacilala and demonstrated how the move should be done in the Casino styling; by walking towards each other and letting the turn occur naturally by the need to avoid running into each-other (not a great explanation... watch the videos linked above. The important difference from "Ritmos Style" is not to open up so much and think about starting the move by walking forward).  Alterations to the Vacilala where shown with keeping hands held or switching to right to right. Rodeo is an option, in place of Dile Que No, to end the Vacilala (especially if you have a hand connection).

Week 1

This week we reviewed the very fundamentals of Casino Partner work; finding the timing of the music with 2-Step, entering Paso de Son, and listening to leaders choice between the many options possible from each basic position. From Paso de Son a leader may choose Pa' Bajo or Dile Que No. From Pa' Bajo a leader may choose Exhible or Dile Que No which brings us into Guapea. From Guapea there are many directions that leaders may take their follows, but this week reviewed the enchufla footwork and move. Additionally we demonstrated the Rodeo which can be added as an alteration whenever the follow is approaching the leads right shoulder, where, instead of catching the follow, the lead will guide the follow around the body and back to that right shoulder. Leaders should use the Rombo footwork to make this smooth for the follows. This week we demonstrated how to bring the follows into a Rodeo from both Exhible and Enchufla
